SILC Student Leadership Conference for schools – Dubai 2020

Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you about the 2020 Dubai Student Leadership Conference which will take place on November 20th & 21st at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and is open to all students ages 11 to 17 who can join for one or two days for an exciting and valuable leadership experience.

Students will enjoy a series of educational workshops, fun team games and experiential challenges, while meeting and networking with young people from other schools.

To ensure adequate social distancing, participants will be divided in smaller groups for a game-based leadership experience, fully in line with COVID-19 measures.

This unique experience is based on the engaging workshops SILC Academy have been running at many top private schools around the world, alongside effective measures developed to ensure that students stay safe and healthy.

One or two day programme for new and returning students

Students can choose to join for one or two days on Friday November 20th and/or Saturday November 21st. Each day is designed around a brand new programme including engaging workshops and amazing team games and challenges, all run following Covid-19 protection rules.

No pre-existing knowledge or prior experience is necessary for either day, and both days are open to all students with a completely new programme to last year’s.

Day 1: Goal Setting & Time Management Workshop
Students learn strategies to help them accomplish their goals by looking at their relationships with others, their achievement in school, and their accomplishments in the community as well as looking forward to future studies and workplaces.

09:00-12:30: Goals, choices and leadership games & activities
12:30-13:30: Lunch
13:30-16:30: Time Management and leadership games & activities
16:30-17:00: Personal Action Plans and special final surprise
17:00 Finish Day one

Day 2: Communication & Conflict Management
Explore the key components of connecting with others, using simple techniques to better understand each other and to improve communication by focusing on listening skills and how to place yourself in someone else’s shoes. Students learn to recognise the five primary responses to conflict, look at how they manage conflict, and explore resolution strategies in different situations.

Amazing venue, new activities and fully catered programme

This exciting one or two-day fully catered event will take place at the beautiful Al Habtoor Polo Resort next to Academic City and Sillicon Oasis. Participants will enjoy meeting new and returning students over great entertainment, delicious food and healthy drinks.

Covid-19 protection measures

The event will fully follow Dubai and UAE Covid-19 production measures as well as the SILC Covid-19 protection plan based on our summer camp and school workshops organised these past months. These have proven to be successful in ensuring student safety and health.

Key health & safety points include:

• The workshops and activities will be run in fixed smaller groups of 15 students with social distancing, for a fun game-based leadership experience at a fully private venue.
• All students and trainers will be wearing face masks and keep 2 meters distance.
• Surfaces will be regularly cleaned by staff.
• All our trainers are tested for Covid-19 prior to the event.
• No buffet. Snacks and lunch are provided as table service.
