Building on the success of last year’s conference in Dubai, we’re pleased to announce that we’re back with a brand new programme designed for both new and returning students! All students between the ages of 11 and 17 are welcome to join us for one or two days, as each day’s programme can be followed as an independent learning experience and offers a completely new learning experience with new games and activities!

1 or 2 day programme for new and retuning students
We are returning again this year with brand new activities and workshops for the Conference on Saturday November 7th. Due to popular demand, this year we are also introducing a series of In-depth workshops on Friday November 6th. These are designed for students wishing to approach subjects more comprehensively and benefit from more personalised learning. No pre-existing knowledge or prior experience is necessary for either day. Both days are open to all students with a completely new programme to last year’s.

Participants can register for each day separately or for both together as a combined package.


Amazing venue, new activities and fully catered programme
This exciting one or two-day fully catered event takes place at the beautiful Meliá Desert Palm Polo Resort. Students can choose to join one or two days designed around a brand new programme including surprising workshops, amazing team games and challenges, and expert panels with industry leaders. Participants will enjoy meeting new and returning students over great entertainment, delicious food and healthy drinks.

The learning experience
The conference is designed around our partnerships and work with the leading schools around the world and is led by senior trainers from SILC, welcoming guest speakers and thought-leaders from emerging industries and international education. An enriching and fun experience to learn and enhance valuable leadership skills through interactive games and activities during which students learn skills including; goal setting, time management, evaluation, communication skills and presentation techniques. All students finish the conference with a personal learning plan identifying the skills they would like to improve and how to accomplish this goal based on their experiences during the workshop and receive a certificate of participation.

DAY 1: November 6th, 2020; join 1 or 2 days

In-depth workshops: 920 AED / student including all activities, catering and materials
In-depth workshops (day 1)+conference (day 2): 1.400 AED / student including all activities, catering and materials

Open to all students aged 11-17. No prior experience required.

Participants attend two workshops of choice over the course of the day; one in the morning, and another in the afternoon. Spaces for each of the in-depth workshops are limited and reserved on a first come first served basis.

Students can choose two among the following workshops;

– Communication Workshop & Conflict Management
Explore the key components of connecting with others, using simple techniques to better understand each other and to improve communication by focusing on listening skills and how to place yourself in someone else’s shoes.
In part two, students learn to recognise the five primary responses to conflict, look at how they manage conflict, and explore resolution strategies in different situations.

– Media Training Workshop
This workshop is a course aimed at improving the participants’ performance in the press and the (social) media. Both the content and the form of communication will be worked on.
Students will be challenged to come up with their own plan for an interview which will then be put into practice with the help of media trainers and leading film makers. We record every interview and analyse together to highlight positive aspects and areas of improvement.

– Team Training & Talent Development Workshop
Everyone has their own strengths and talents, some we might be aware of, others not. In this workshop students learn how to better identify develop their talents and preferred team roles and learn to use these effectively in daily life.
Students then play a team challenge where the focus is on using their everyone’s individual talents within the team to achieve success, improving understanding of oneself and each other

– Goal Setting & Time Management Workshop
Students learn strategies to help them accomplish their goals by looking at their relationships with others, their achievement in school, and their accomplishments in the community as well as looking forward to future studies and workplaces.
As part of an educational game, participants will then be challenged to accomplish a goal, while managing their time effectively and avoid getting stressed.

CONFERENCE DAY: General Workshops & Leadership Challenges

New games, learning outcomes and workshops based on last year’s popular and exciting format. Open to all students aged 11-17. No prior experience required.

Experience what it means to be a leader through fun experiential team games and presentations from our SILC trainers. Learn about yourself and meet new friends through the purpose designed workshops and activities developed from the SILC curriculum together with our international school partners.

All students will be divided into teams with whom they will participate in a series of workshops and exciting challenges focused on various leadership topics such as Teamwork, Planning & Optimisation, Goal Setting, Communication Skills, Sustainability and Understanding the needs of others. Rotating through a series of workshops and games, each group will face a fun and educational challenge where they put what they learned into practice, while trying to best the other teams.

General Summary

Students can choose to enrol one of the two or for both days. This event is open to all international and local students aged 11 to 17 for an intense one or two days of learning and fun at the beautiful Meliá Desert Palm in Dubai. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a unique learning experience, learn about yourself, be inspired and build new friendships.

Who is welcome?

  • Anyone aged 11 to 17 is welcome
  • Open to all students, whether or not they have demonstrated leadership skills before

What do participants finish the conference with?
All participants will receive their own;

  • Certificate of Participation, helpful for university applications.
  • Personal Action Plan, identifying the leadership skills they would like to improve and how to work towards their goals
  • Opportunity for a follow up course or workshop

  • Parents are welcome from 8:30 until 9:45 and can meet with our staff, school, university, event and corporate partners.

Parents Cafe SILC Student Leadership Conference

The Parent & Student Cafe is back

The parent & student Cafe - open between 08:30-09:45 on both days - is a space for parents and students to meet with our trainers, partner schools, universities and corporate partners while socialising with other parents and enjoy some refreshments.

Parents can sign-up to meet with our partners to learn more about what these organisations do and the opportunities that they can offer to your children, or just come and have a chat with a representative. Our SILC trainers can give you detailed information about the learning outcomes of the conference, as well as help you to gain the most for your child by following up on their experiences and skills that they develop throughout the day, and how to use your child’s Personal Learning Plan as a persistent tool for their development.

The Director of the SILC Academy will be giving a talk in the morning about the nature of the SILC Student Leadership Conference and the SILC philosophy. You will also be able to sign up for the optional digital follow up meeting with your child’s dedicated trainer and/or Head of Student Learning to provide your child with a more detailed evaluation and to assist them in assessing their progress towards their goals and setting new targets for themselves. Valet parking is provided for parents by the hotel.
