Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you about a student leadership opportunity coming to Dubai on March the 23rd 2019, organised by the Swiss Leadership Academy who have been running outstanding student leadership workshops at top schools in the UAE and around the world for the last 11 years. They are now coming to Dubai to organise a high-impact and fun-filled event bringing together students aged 12 to 17.

The Leadership Conference on March 23rd 2019
The Swiss Leadership Academy is coming from Switzerland to the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach Resort in Dubai on Saturday March 23rd 2019 for a unique and fun-filled one-day leadership event. By learning and enhancing valuable leadership skills through interactive games and activities, students improve on goal setting, time management, communication, evaluation, and other important skills. All students finish the conference with a certificate of participation as well as a personal action plan identifying how to accomplish their goals and what they would like to improve in their daily lives.

A unique learning experience
The conference is based on a proven format developed by SILC Academy working with schools around the world and is led by their senior trainers. Welcoming guest speakers emerging industries, it is an enriching and fun opportunity to learn and enhance valuable leadership skills through interactive games and activities during which students learn a variety of practical skills. All students finish the conference with a personal action plan identifying the skills they would like to improve and describe how to accomplish their goals based on their experiences during the conference. Each student will also receive a certificate of participation.

Full day and well-catered conference
The SILC Student Leadership Conference is a full day event taking place on March 23rd 2019 at the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach Resort. The main programme is from 10:00 to 18:00, with the optional evening programme continuing until 20:00. Held at the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach Resort, and with full catering -adapted to all diets- included, students will want for nothing on this fun day!

Unique Leadership Games and Inspiring Guests
Guest speakers include the Forbes Business Woman of the year, the Chairman of the Emirates Investment Centre and the first Arab female coach of the national football team who all share valuable life lessons and leadership experiences. Students will have the chance to meet and interact with the guests during several games, the final leadership challenge and a professional movie production.

Parents are welcome before and after the event

The main programme is from 10:00-18:00 and as a complimentary option, parents can choose to visit the dedicated parent and student cafe, open between 09:00-10:00 and 18:00-20:00 which is a space for parents and students to socialise, get refreshments, chat with SILC Academy trainers, join a scheduled talk with the SILC Academy Director and meet event partners.

Post-conference follow-up
The SILC leadership training team will come to our school one or two months post-conference for a bespoke training at school to follow up on the Personal Action Plans students work on at the event. As a school partner, they are offering this to our students at no additional cost above a certain number of students attending from our school.

09:30: Presentation for parents about the programme and learning outcomes
09:50: Doors closing: all students should have arrived!

10:00: Grand opening with Dubai Drums and SILC Director
10:20: Students interview expert panel: Joy Aljouny Forbes businesswoman of the year and Ayesh Albarguthi, chairman of the Emirates Investment Centre
10:40: Kickstart of the SILC Leadership Games
Team games, each related to specific learning outcomes, followed by an evaluation, all under guidance of the trainers. Games include the Pyramid Challenge on evaluation and planning, The Marshmallow Challenge on goals, The Interview Game on communication skills, the Hidden Gem at the beach on time management and priorities and the Dubai Drums workshop on connection and collaboration. Teams rotate between the activities and compete based on results, learning and self-evaluation.

14:00: Continuation of games, evaluations and learning
17:00: Recap and Personal Action Plans
17:30: Music and dance performance by Melodica students
17:40: Students interview expert panel: Houriya Taheri the first Arab female coach of the national football team and a second surprise guest.
18:00: Prize giving and certificates

18:00: End of day programme: Pick up and departures if no evening programme is booked
