SILC Student Leadership Conference Dubai 2020 – Australian International School: NEW PROGRAMME

NEW PROGRAMME! IDEAL FOR NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS FROM LAST YEARS CONFERENCE

Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you that, due to KHDA measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at educational institutions in the UAE, the SILC Student Leadership Conference Dubai 2020 will be postponed to the weekend of November 6th-7th 2020.

The conference will proceed as planned but just at a later date. Students ages 11-17 can still register for the programme for either one or two days. Registrations are still ongoing and allocated on a first come first served basis, therefore, we believe it is important to register as soon as possible before spots run out. Register here.

New programme and activities for new and returning students
Building on the success of last year’s conference in Dubai they are bringing an entirely new one or two-day programme, suitable for both new and returning students between the ages of 11 and 17. Last year the conference was attended by over 20 students from our school and over 220 students from other schools in the UAE.

Discount for AIS students
As a school supporting the development of leadership skills, we have negotiated an exclusive discount for the first 30 students who register for this event. Above a certain number of registered students we will also have a free post-conference follow up training back at our school in the months following the conference.

Choose to join one or two days.
November 6th: In-depth workshops and games
November 7th: Activity based leadership conference
The SILC Academy is coming from Switzerland to the Melia Desert Palm in Dubai on November 6th and 7th 2020 for a unique and fun-filled event which students can join for 1 or 2 days of choice. The conference is based on a proven format developed by SILC Academy working with schools around the world. No pre-existing knowledge or prior experience is necessary for either day. Both days are open to all students with a completely new programme to last year’s.

By learning and enhancing valuable leadership skills through interactive games and activities, students improve on goal setting, time management, communication, evaluation, and other important skills. All students finish the conference with a certificate of participation as well as a Personal Action Plan identifying how to accomplish their goals and opportunities for growth in their daily lives.

Choose to join 1 or 2 days:
November 6th: In-depth workshops of choice based on games and specific learning outcomes of choice
November 7th: Activity-based conference based on games and activities designed around all learning outcomes
You can view the programme and video here.

Developing leadership skills in a fun format and activity based learning
The event includes a day of in-depth workshops on November 6th, followed by the conference on November 7th. The programme runs from 10:00 to 18:00, with the optional parent and student cafe running from 08:30-09:45 on both days. Held at the Melia Desert Palm and with full catering suitable for all dietary requirements, students will be well provided-for on both days.

Parents are welcome before and after the event
Parents and students are invited to visit the optional and complimentary parent and student cafe, open between 08:30-09:45, which is a space for participants to socialise, get refreshments, chat with SILC Academy trainers, join a scheduled talk with the SILC Academy Director and meet event and university partners.

Post-conference follow-up
The SILC leadership training team will come to our school one or two months post-conference for a bespoke training at our school to follow-up on the Personal Action Plans students produce at the event. As a school partner, they are offering this to our students based upon a minimum number of registrations.

Unique Leadership Games and Inspiring Guests
Besides all the exciting leadership games and challenges we will welcome inspiring guests. Guest speakers in 2019 included the Forbes Business Woman of the year, the Chairman of the Emirates Investment Centre, and the first Arab female coach of the national football team who share valuable life lessons and leadership experiences with our young leaders. Students will have the chance to meet and interact with the guests throughout the event.

Registration and discount
The exclusive discount is limited to 30 students and discounts are on a first come first served basis and limited to the first 30 students who register.
